THE STORY BEHIND YUUGEN CANDLES

From the start, we knew we only wanted to use a plant-based wax for our candles and melts.

We tested multiple plant-based waxes and we fell in love with a natural blend of coconut and rapeseed wax. This is sustainably sourced and one of the most eco-friendly waxes available.

 Once we found the perfect wax, we tested so many unique blends of fragrance and wick sizes to create our collection.

For every new fragrance or container size, the process of testing a new blend of ingredients and size wicks starts all over again.

This is very time consuming and a lot of work goes into this process.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN YOUR WAX ?

To ensure you get the best from your candle, we provide you with a candle care card to help care for your product.

Our wax is a soft wax with lots of character.

This means it has fine surface cracks, when it cools and sets. We don't see these as imperfections, but as a personality of the wax. After burning, sometimes our wax develops dimples or holes on the surface. This is one of the characters of using a 100% vegetable derived wax.

Our wax burns slowly and cleanly. It contains no paraffin or additives, and it lasts for a lot longer than many other candle waxes on the market.

Vegetable wax candles generally burn longer than paraffin candles. Our wax is derived from vegetables, while paraffin is a refined gasoline by-product. Our wax is 100% biodegradable while paraffin wax is not. If you spill our vegetable wax, it’s easily cleaned up. Whereas paraffin wax spills are very time consuming and extremely difficult to clean up. 

WHEN MY CANDLE RESETS, WHY DOES IT HAVE AN UNEVEN SURFACE?

With vegetable waxes this is perfectly normal. They can have surface pits and blemishes. This is a character of the wax and we think it’s a very small price to pay for having a slow burning, beautiful clean wax.

HOW DO I GET MY CANDLE TO BURN DOWN EVENLY?

Believe it or not wax has a memory. So, when you first light and burn your candle, the wax learns on each and every burn, how it should behave. We have worked incredibly hard on our wax and wick combinations to ensure that our candles burn evenly. But a candle needs your help as well. When you first light your candle, it’s really important that you allow the melted wax to reach the edges, creating what’s known as a ‘full melt pool’. 

HOW LONG DO I BURN MY CANDLE FOR?

It is recommend that a candle, regardless of its size, should not be lit for any longer that 4 hours at a time. your first burn needs to be long enough for the melt pool to reach the edges of the container. This should take about 3-4 hours and no more.

 CANDLE TIPS

  • When relighting candles, trim the wick to about 1/2 cm, to avoid sooting and irregular burning.
  • Always place on a safe surface.
  • Never leave a candle burning unattended.
  • Burn well out of reach of children and pets.
  • Keep well away from flammable items.
  • Only stand on inflammable surfaces – use suitable containers or candleholders.
  • Do not expose the candle to draughts or other air flows e.g. radiators.
  • Keep the container free of impurities and flammable materials.
  • Extinguish sooting, flickering candles – trim the wick before reigniting.
  • Do not move the candle so long as the wax in the burning bowl is still liquid.
  • Never extinguish burning candles near a naked flame.
  • Our work is 100% handcrafted. Slight variations from candle to candle are considered a part of the unique handcrafted process and are to be expected. Due to the handmade nature of our products, all sales are final on wholesale orders. No returns or exchanges will be offered on the basis of product scent. We not replace, refund, or exchange products that have been purchased from one of our retail partners. YUUGEN is not responsible for any damages that occur once you have taken ownership of the product.

YUUGEN is not responsible for lost or stolen packages once they are received at your location. please ensure your orders are delivered to a safe location.  is not responsible for incorrectly shipped orders if the wrong address is put at checkout.

    All claims for damages must be reported within 48 hours of receipt of products. Providing supporting photos/documentation is required for all damages. After we review your request, we will either replace the damaged / missing goods or process a refund to your card. Only the exact items from the original order can be replaced.
